Delighted to see that our Newsletter Subscriber numbers continue to grow and I hope you have Downloaded your free copy of my Book 'How to Transform Finance' whilst it is still available. I had cause this week and last to review my Baseline. I tell all my Clients new and prospective that if you don't Measure your Baseline you will advance aimlessly.
I like the image above as I think it conveys accurately a Senior Leadership team when it wants to start a Finance Transformation program. Insofar as everybody has their own interpretation of the problem and their own vision of the future. Consequently, nobody is walking in the same direction.
I am not actually a fan of Airport walkways, even at Heathrow where the 'gap' from Terminal 2 to the Heathrow Express is a tad long, I still prefer to walk for real or break into that half hearted walk/jog when you don't want to break sweat in your suit.
The Book has amazed me with its take up and my heartfelt gratitude to one and all who have Downloaded it. This you can currently do for Free on my Website without leaving your details. I don't want you dreading a 'follow up' instead I want you to reach out to me when you need to. The Print version is imminently to fall through my Letterbox and then I will be taking requests for Delivery to your doorstep. Just so you know my intention is to put a Special Edition Cover on the Print version.
Back to Project Baselines. Measure everything Organisation, Process and technology. The Book covers this in fine detail so I won't labour the point here. It also contains a link to the Podcast if you prefer to listen to me for 25 minutes instead.
My own Baseline concerns Finance Transformation Consulting my own Business, its contacts, clients, suppliers etc. We have done well this Year with a Fast Payer Gold Award to help our Suppliers, 2 Consulting Awards so our Clients, current and prospective, know we cut the mustard and then our Contacts.
Like all Businesses we have an outreach Marketing program consisting of LinkedIn and Email Subscribers. Although I have this as 'Baseline' for my potential to win future work I think it needs a Review. I tell all my Clients Baseline your Finance function as Step 1 and then let us examine it in detail, that's Step 2.
Therefore, I have commenced Step 2 for my Business. This will involve me writing to most of you individually to commence a more personal and tailored level of engagement that fits your needs. So keep an eye out for an email from me over the coming weeks as I work through my Contacts Baseline.
Hopefully we can arrive at a sweet spot that gives you more of what you need and where appropriate we start to work together. I had one great idea already from a Subscriber during this week and I hope that a more personal 1:1 Communication approach will yield many more.
Over the Years I have taken ideas through Books, Magazines and Podcasts but I think in the second half of 2025 I intend to ramp that up considerably with my next set of ideas.
So always remember Baseline Finance before you start any form of Finance Transformation, Finance Shared Services or Finance Systems Strategy.
